Sharon del Valle - Board of Education Biography

Sharon del Valle is a business executive, community advocate, and longtime Neptune Township resident who is running for the Neptune Township Board of Education because she believes every child deserves an excellent education and every taxpayer deserves confidence that public dollars are being invested wisely.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Sharon has led growth, innovation, and organizational transformation for many of the world's most respected consumer and beauty companies, including General Foods, Philips, Schick, Estée Lauder, CHANEL, Elizabeth Arden, and KOSÉ. Most recently, she served as General Manager for KOSÉ North America, leading strategy, operations, and financial performance for a multi-million-dollar business.

Throughout her career, Sharon has managed significant budgets, built and led high-performing teams, introduced innovative new products and helped organizations improve performance and achieve measurable results. She believes effective school-board governance requires many of those same disciplines: asking the right questions, understanding the data, establishing clear goals, managing resources responsibly and holding leadership accountable for results.

Sharon holds bachelor's degrees in Biochemistry and Spanish and an MBA from Georgetown University. She also studied international business at ESADE in Barcelona. Fluent in English and Spanish, Sharon has lived and worked internationally, including several years in South America, and brings both a global perspective and a deep appreciation for the importance of education in creating opportunity.

Sharon is a first-generation American and the daughter of parents who emigrated from Argentina with her brother before she was born. Born and raised in the Midwest, she later moved to the New York metropolitan area during the fall of her junior year of high school. Sharon and her husband, Gregory McGrath, have been married for more than 20 years and have called Ocean Grove home for more than two decades.

Sharon is running for the Board of Education because she believes Neptune can—and should—deliver stronger educational outcomes while respecting the taxpayers who support its schools. Her priorities are improving student achievement, ensuring responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, increasing transparency and accountability, and preparing students with the academic, technical and career skills they will need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Her philosophy is simple: educational excellence and fiscal responsibility are not competing goals. Neptune's students and taxpayers deserve both.
